BUZLUDZHA MONUMENT 180 lkms 14 & 15th June 2026
Sunday 14th June - Relaxed in the camp all day plotting and planning for my fake registration papers with Ernesto. Went for dinner into Seveilo which is 15 kms away and found a decent place for a Ceasar's Salad, Bulgarian style but was edible and something different.
MONDAY 15th June One month since I left Cape Town
Visited the Buzludzha Monument, Brutalist Architecture of note.
The Monument House of the Bulgarian Communist Party (Bulgarian: Дом паметник на БКП, romanized: Dom pametnik na BKP), also known as the Buzludzha Monument (/ˈbʊzlʊdʒə/), was built on Buzludzha Peak in central Bulgaria by the Bulgarian communist government and inaugurated in 1981. It commemorated the events of 1891, when a group of socialists led by Dimitar Blagoev assembled secretly in the area to form an organized socialist movement that led to the founding of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party, a forerunner of the Bulgarian Communist Party (itself a forerunner of the current Bulgarian Socialist Party).
